System Functionality

  • Test your system frequently. It takes less than 5 minutes. First call your monitoring agency to let them know you are testing your system. You will need your account number and password. You may also want to let your neighbors know you are testing, especially if you have an outside siren. Next, arm the system and wait for the exit delay to expire. Trip several devices by walking in front of motion detectors and opening monitored doors. Disarm the system, wait 1 minute, contact the monitoring agency to verify the alarms were received.
  • Make sure everyone who has a key to your home or business knows the alarm code, verbal passcode and knows how to operate the system.
  • Periodically inspect the alarm system components to make sure they appear to be in working order. Contact EPS at once if any part of the system is not operating correctly.
    • Contact EPS anytime you have phone work done at your home or business. Unfortunately, we frequently find that alarm systems are damaged, or even bypassed when phone work has been performed.
    • Make sure your premises phone number and emergency contact list is current. Has your cell phone number changed? Do you have a different contact number at work? Call EPS to update your list at anytime!
